Victoria Needs Information

If you have a student going to Victoria as part of KMS Marching Corps, Parade Squad this is you too, then you need to send the following information RIGHT AWAY to:

Why do we need this info? Border Security requests a Master List, (manifest), of travelers PRIOR to our departure. About 30 days prior, which is about two weeks and Sheila, the one creating this list for Border Security, doesn’t have a life 😉 She works two jobs, goes to college full time and is a wife and mom haha! So please email the following right away. It would be fabulous to have all the students info before this coming Friday! It’s spring break and Sheila is only at one job-hurray! She is therefore spending this break finalizing the trip details.

Sheila says: THANKS for getting me that info asap! I know you’re also enjoying spring break, so if you don’t get this until next week, it’s ok. I’m just hoping to get the majority of the 100+ done this week. A few stragglers is fine 🙂

We need:
FULL, no abbreviations, Legal Name
Date of Birth
US Citizenship (you just need to type yes or no, no paperwork to prove or anything here)

At this time we have over 100 students going and only 16 with full information.

Please share this on your Facebook, Twitter, email, verbally, texting, etc. to all Victoria participants. Thank you!

Thanks Folks!

Great news!!!!

We have enough chaperones and KMS Marching Corps is off to Victoria!!! Thank you parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles and family friends for stepping up to make this trip happen! Your support of our students is very much appreciated!

All chaperones have been contacted. So if you think you are one, but HAVEN’T received an email from:, then you are NOT on the list. If you would like to be a chaperone, we would love to have you join us! There is room for more, it means smaller student/adult group ratios, which is never a bad thing 😉 So send Sheila an email BEFORE THIS THURSDAY. The Master List is being sent for NKSD approval on Friday, April 7, 2017.

A personal note from Sheila:
From the bottom of my heart, thank you! To each one of you who are joining us as a chaperone extraordinaire-THANK YOU!
This trip means SO much for our students! So much to folks in Victoria! So much to Mr. Haag and So, SO much to me! If we don’t have enough adults going, then the band doesn’t go and it was pretty scary this year.
It takes some sacrifice to be a chaperone, the whole Booster Board knows this! So we the Board THANK YOU to each one of you and especially to our chaperones who stepped up in the eleventh hour.
I’m so incredibly thrilled!

Now…off to Victoria!

Trip Donations

There have been some emails coming in asking the same question,  “are there any funds to help chaperones pay for their trip?” or, “are there any chaperone donation monies to offset costs?”. So lets go over those answers.

The short answer is, YES there are.

Each student is welcome to fundraise their cost and when that is achieved they may continue fundraising for their, or any, chaperone’s cost.

Also DONATIONS are welcomed to help offset chaperone costs. So if you, or someone you know, would like to give cash, check or money order donations please send them in. Let us know that it is specifically for offsetting chaperone costs and we will apply it to a chaperone. Currently we have two chaperones requesting trip cost assistance.

The easiest way to get donations to us is by mail. Our mail box is checked regularly and it takes about three days to be received. Please make all donations, checks or money orders out to KMS Band Boosters and mail to:

KMS Band Boosters
PO Box 1312
Kingston, WA 98346

Donations can also be made for any student as well.

Uh-oh!!!! Victoria Cancelled???

Hey Parents, Aunts, Uncles, Friends of Music…we are SHORT on chaperones!!!

Victoria is DANGER of being CANCELLED!

If you are wavering about being a chaperone, then let this sway you. Email Sheila ASAP: and be a chaperone with the band!

Last year KMS Marching Corps took first place! Judges Award and they have been personally invited back to march again this year for the big festivities! It’s a special year in Victoria and we need you.

Fundraising return policy:

If trip monies are paid in cash form and not from any fundraisers, that amount will be refunded.

If monies paid into trip balances from fundraisers, that money is non-refundable.

Chaperone Email

Let’s go to Victoria!

Sheila has sent out an email to the current known list of chaperones so be checking your in-boxes and junk folders for it. The address it will be from is:

If you are a chaperone and did NOT receive an email, please let Sheila know right away.

If you would LIKE to be a chaperone, but haven’t signed up yet, email Sheila. At this time we are short by just a few adults. We are SO close! If you are not sure about chaperoning, but think maybe you would like to, then-YES-do! Join us! Victoria is a wonderful trip, full of wonderful surprises, laughter and FUN!

Marching Band Practice

Parade season is almost here!

After school, 6th Grade, Marching band practice will begin in April.

7th and 8th graders may join in the fun too if they want, or need extra practice. Parents you are welcome to come early at pick up time and watch the magic take shape!

Look for more communication via Skyward from Mr. Haag for the day of the week and ending time. We are looking into after school activity bus transportation availability.

Friendly tip from a ‘second-kid-in-band’ Mom: pack extra snacks and water for the extended day. They’ll probably be really hungry on practice days and welcome the extra treats!

FUNraising opportunities!

Next week, February 22 at Poulsbo Dairy Queen is a night of Treats and Sweet Eats! So come on out for some yummy dinner and delicious dessert! We’ll be there 5-8pm and KMS Boosters will receive 20% of all sales!

For Individual Trip Accounts here are more opportunities:

  • See’s Site Sales have some open spots. To sign up contact Melody at or 360-981-4447.
  • NOW through March 1st we have 2 new fundraising opportunities. Dutch Mills Bulbs and Double Good (Popcorn). I have the brochures here, if you would like them please let me know. It’s a 50% profit for the student.

Trip Payment Schedule

Victoria is fast approaching and Portland is not far behind-the excitement is building!

The Trip Cost was announced at the last Booster Meeting and it is….drum roll please…

(give or take $100)

Here is the payment schedule:

First amount due March 1 of $100/per student and/or chaperone

Next amount due April 5 and each account needs to have $250 per student and/or chaperone

Final amount due May 3 of $350 per student and/or chaperone

The purpose of a payment schedule is to provide funds for parts of the trip that come due before we leave.

6th Grade Parents, while you may not yet know if your student will make Marching Band yet, feel free to begin fundraising if you’d like. Money raised can be held over for next year’s proposed trip: Disneyland.

Also if you are planning on being a chaperone, once a student’s balance is paid in full, they may continue to fundraise on your behalf.

When turning in monies, please return fundraising monies to the person facilitating the particular fundraiser. They will mark their records and turn in totals to our treasurer, Shauna who will record amounts to each student’s account.

You are welcome to pay cash for any or all of the trip cost. Please remember, Mr. Haag and the KMS Office may not take your cash payments. If cash is turned in to either one, it automatically becomes ASB monies.

To pay with cash you can:
Pay at General Meetings
Send checks to our PO Box:
KMS Band Boosters
P.O. Box 1312
Kingston, WA 98346

If writing a check please right the student’s name and grade in the memo line of the check.
